Designer Karim Rashid has completed the interior of a restaurant in Dubai, UAE.
I wanted to change to a strong vision, made symmetrical by a continuous wall, waving that wraps around the space. The design creates an interesting texture to the light and shade, reminiscent of sand dunes in the desert. This is a unique environment of the symmetry and balance that completely surrounds the guests.
Each experience is composed of views, smells, tastes and sounds, here, the way to create individual funds for a truly amazing dining experience worldwide. The backlit ceiling artwork is stylized Moorish-inspired phrases. The CW seats provides an efficient operating system and dynamic. I wanted to create a powerful, clean, offers a beautiful view. I wanted to create an oasis free of chaos. My intention was to create a truly unique venue for the Dubai Mall which will become a symbolic reference, not only in Dubai
It is called Switch, the restaurant is arranged along wavy walls that change color constantly.
The ceiling is decorated with Arabic script, lit from behind.
"The wall is inspired by the letter S in Arabic is turned sideways. 'Shin', as the Greek Sigma, a play on the word Switch" says Rashid.
"Shin means prefix including" who "goes along with the restaurant's name, Switch," he continues. But change is also something like an address change, a transformation. The space becomes a reality, and takes one on a journey. It is a truly unique environment. "
