The name sounds scary, I was a little taken aback when I first heard it as well. The name may be slightly offputting, but the color is absolutely gorgeous. As I was pulling together my inspiration photos I noticed they all had one thing in common. But once I realized oxblood was the name for the deep maroon color trend that has been popping up everywhere, I was in love. This deep, rich color is perfect for fall and winter and can be played up or down depending on your preference.
You can spot this trend in everything from nail polish to apparel to accessories. I am currently wearing the crush-worthy color on my nails and I have my eye on a pair of oxblood pants. And you can find everyone wearing this color from the runway to celebrities to the everyday girl on the street.
The brownish red hue looks perfect paired with neutrals like white, beige, gray, or black. But, if you’re feeling really daring, you can try oxblood paired with another contrasting color. A favorite of mine: mustard yellow.
This color is going to look fantastic in all forms of winterwear from slacks to sweaters… even overalls! I for one will be starting small in the way of a deep burgundy manicure and a turquoise ring. How will you be working this trend?
The two colors seem so different but mesh so well together. Just like these basic skinnies from Bloomingdale’s in oxblood together with this cute mustard yellow cropped jacket found on Pinterest (with a basic neutral shirt underneath).
Add in simple two-toned flats like these from Jessica Simpson’s line for Nordstrom’s along with a fun black tote like the Parker Tote Bag from Nastygal.com and the look is complete!
I can tell this color is going to look fantastic in all forms of winterwear from slacks to sweaters… even overalls! I for one will be starting small in the way of a deep burgundy manicure and a turquoise ring. How will you be working this trend?
