The Tasmanian Government has unveiled the $200 million redevelopment plan for the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) in Hobart.

The design aims to preserve the site's colonial buildings and transform the Dunn Street carpark into a public space.

TMAG's director Bill Bleathman says the Dunn Street carpark will become a public square.
